Tell the Bees – Hackney and C° – Windham Fabrics

Une nouvelle créatrice chez Windham Fabrics, une première collection très prometteuse, je l’ai adoré d’emblée, surtout qu’il était question d’abeilles. et son jeu de couleurs tout en douceur est reposant, comme la nature qu’elle dessine. Encore là, c’est une jeune illustratrice qui a été repéré par cette maison de tissus.

A new designer at Windham Fabrics, a very promising first collection, I loved it immediately, especially when it came to bees. and her soft play of colors is relaxing, like the nature she draws. Again, it was a young illustrator who was spotted by this house of fabrics.

Katy Hackney est une illustratrice, artiste et conceptrice d’impression basée dans les îles Orkney. Les «Co» sont ses deux chats qui lui tiennent compagnie chaque jour en studio. Katy a une formation en design textile, qu’elle a étudiée à l’Université de Loughborough. Avec plus de 10 ans dans l’industrie, elle a travaillé sur des conceptions sur mesure pour les articles ménagers, la mode, le papier peint et la papeterie dans le monde entier. Ses collaborations passées incluent John Lewis, M&S, Next, V&A Museum et Swarovski Crystals. Elle a fait publier son travail dans le livre d’exposition « Crystal Living » des cristaux Swarovski, « The Pattern Book » de Monsa et a présenté son travail dans Elle Decoration. Son design « Nouveau Neon » a remporté le prix Ideal Home Show Wallpaper en 2014. Sélectionné par architecte d’intérieur Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen Aujourd’hui, Katy est inspirée par les plantes fourragères locales, elle est passionnée de partager sa connaissance du monde botanique et du folklore derrière de nombreuses herbes et fleurs sauvages qu’elle trouve dans les Highlands et les îles écossaises. Ses dessins organiques sont illustrés à la main, dessinant des lignes délicates à la plume et à l’encre et ajoutant des couches d’aquarelle.

Katy Hackney is an illustrator, artist and print designer based in the Orkney Isles. The ‘Co’ are her two cats who keep her company in the studio each day. ​Katy has a background in Textile design, which she studied at Loughborough University. With over 10 years in the industry she has worked on bespoke designs for both Homewares, Fashion, Wallpaper & Stationery worldwide. Her past collaborations include John Lewis, M&S, Next, V&A Museum & Swarovski Crystals. She had her work published in Swarovski crystals ”Crystal Living » Exhibition book, ‘The Pattern Book’ by Monsa and has had her work featured in Elle Decoration. Her design ‘Nouveau Neon’ won the Ideal Home Show Wallpaper award in 2014. Selected by interior designer Laurence Llewelyn-BowenToday Katy is Inspired by locally foraged plants, she is passionate about sharing her knowledge of the botanical world and the folklore behind many herbs and wildflowers she finds within the Scottish Highlands and Islands. Her organic designs are illustrated by hand, drawing delicate lines in pen and ink and adding layers of watercolour.

Sarah’s Story by Betty Chutchian de la maison Moda

Elle est depuis ses récents débuts dans cette maison de tissus, et donc à l’Atelier où j’ai une grande préférence pour celle-ci. Et comme j’adore les tissus de reproduction, elle y avait toute sa place. Voici la troisième série de cette créatrice à l’atelier. Mais qui est Betty Chutchian :

She is since her recent beginnings in this house of fabrics, and therefore in the Atelier where I have a great preference for this one. And since I love reproductive tissue, it had its place. Here is the third series of this designer at the workshop. But who is Betty Chutchian:

Enfant, Betsy Chutchian a développé un intérêt passionné pour le tissu, les courtepointes, la couture et l’histoire.
Après avoir obtenu son diplôme de l’Université du Texas à Arlington en 1980, Betsy a reçu un dessus de courtepointe antique fabriqué par son arrière-grand-mère et arrière-tante paternelle. C’est alors qu’elle a appris elle-même à piquer.Betsy a commencé à enseigner en 1990 et elle partage sa passion pour la fabrication de courtepointe et la reproduction de courtepointes du 19e siècle à travers l’enseignement, les présentations et les tournages de lit. Elle est l’auteur de plusieurs livres – son dernier étant Classic and Heirloom Quilts publié par It’s Sew Emma, ​​et le très prochain Treasury of Quilts de Martingale. Ses livres précédents incluent: Gone to Texas, Quilts from a Pioneer Woman Journal, Lizzie’s Legacy and Just Treats, No Tricks with Kansas City Star. Betsy Chutchian developed a passionate interest in fabric, quilts, sewing and history as a child.
After graduation from the University of Texas at Arlington in 1980, Betsy received an antique quilt top made by her paternal great-grandmother and great-aunt. It was then that she taught herself to quilt. Betsy began teaching in 1990 and she shares her passion for quiltmaking and reproducing 19th Century quilts through teaching, presentations and bed-turnings. She is the author of several books – her latest being Classic and Heirloom Quilts published by It’s Sew Emma, and the coming-very-soon Treasury of Quilts from Martingale. Her previous books include: Gone to Texas, Quilts from a Pioneer Woman’s Journal, Lizzie’s Legacy and Just Treats, No Tricks with Kansas City Star. She also co-authored History Repeated, Block Exchange Quilts by the 19th Century Patchwork Divas. Betsy is also the co-founder of the 19th Century Patchwork Divas, a block exchange group dedicated 1800’s reproduction fabric. Betsy’s passion for fabric, fabric study, and antique quilts has led her to design fabric with Moda – which isn’t far from Grand Prairie, Texas, where she lives with her husband Steve and a couple of cats.
